Tom Landry Interview
|Dr. Gordon Anderson, Jr., with Tom Landry, during a Focus on Faith interview, in the 1980s.
Here are some of Tom Landry’s thoughts, which he shared in that interview:
“I thought all I had to do was be the best football player, and I’d have everything that life had to offer…. Each time I set a goal and achieved it, though, there was always, after the excitement was over…, an emptiness and a restlessness that seemed to creep into my life. My only rationalization was that I hadn’t reached the top of my profession. If I reached that, then that would go away.
“Really, I’d been a church-goer all my life and not a Christian. I didn’t know there was a difference, but I made that discovery. The thing I discovered was that the restlessness and the emptiness left me at that point. I knew that void in my heart was filled by Jesus Christ, and then my priorities changed. “
